The US Centers for Disease Control says that suicide and homicide continue to rise in the age group of 10-24. Ten years old! That is a child, a young child.

Boys are more likely than girls to die from suicide. The death rate for boys at age 12 is 46% higher and at the age of 19, it’s almost 300% higher.
There is a very large disparity in homicide deaths by race.
The one thing that IS apparent, teenage safety is critically diminishing. Someone needs to step up and give these kids some assistance.
It depends on who is reporting this news, as to the cause that is assumed. If you go back to the original 76 page report, it’s not a simple statistical answer or remedy.

- 82.8% of adolescents age 12-17 are considered to be in very good health.
- 3.2% of adolescents age 12-17 smoke cigarettes.
- 9.9% of children 12-17 have used alcohol in the past 30 days.
- 5.8% of children in this age group are without health insurance.
