At this moment in time, do you accept yourself as you are…or do you not approve of yourself?

This is a particular problem with health coaches because, if we do not fully accept and love ourselves, we can not open up and accept and love others.  The harder we are on ourselves, the harder we will be on others.

“The worst loneliness is to not be comfortable with yourself.” Mark Twain.

I want you to know – you are not alone.  There are health coaches, many health coaches who don’t feel good about themselves.  They don’t believe that their body presents them as they want to be seen.  Maybe it isn’t even their body, maybe it is a health condition, skin condition, fear of speaking, tendency to procrastinate.  Whatever it is, it keeps them from full participating.

I already know that you can sit down and list the things you don’t like about yourself, so let’s skip that part and,

make a list of 3 things you love about yourself:

1.

2.

3.

Now, sit down and write 3 ways that not approving of yourself  is causing trouble for yourself and/or your loved ones.

1.

2.

3.

One more thing….write 3 ways your life would be better if you approved of yourself.

1.

2.

3.

When you accept yourself, you can also accept your imperfections.  This then allows you to fulfill your potential instead of improving yourself.

Don’t just take my word for it!  Save these quotes and use them for affirmations and reminders:

Doubt and delay are evidence of a disconnection from faith and courage. Do not doubt that you can be a person of greatness, nor delay the acts of strength and love that will prove it. Brendan Burchard

You are very powerful, provided you know how powerful you are. Yogi Bhajan

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live up to what light I have.
  Abraham Lincoln

Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are. Malcolm S. Forbes

Please, take one minute, close your eyes and give yourself permission to love yourself unconditionally.

When I first started in the coaching world I had those same fears and doubts about myself. I’m still not sure I’m over them, but I’m charging ahead anyways. I needed a little self love today and enjoyed the exercises your provided. They brought me a little clarity on an otherwise down day 🙂

Thanks for the reminder that I am good enough. It’s so easy to let those negative thoughts creep up.

Funny I was just thinking this morning about those in the motivational fields always seeming to have it together and wondering if they ever have doubts, insecurities or down moments. I just started as a personal trainer and the feeling that I need to be perfect as a role model has been a lot of pressure. Thank you for the validation that I am not alone with my imperfection.
